Daleville.......David Marion Johnston, 80, resident of Daleville, passed away at his home on September 30th, 2020.
He was born in Winchester, Indiana, October 7, 1939 the son of Wayne G. and Ellen Owens Johnston. He was a graduate of Winchester High School and was a veteran of the US Air Force. He had been a teacher in electronics for ITT and was a licensed pilot.
He was a member of the Middletown Church of the Nazarene and the Upper White River Archeology Society. He had owned and operated Spring Valley Lake Campground, Eastside Electronics and ACE Airport.
He loved nature, animals, and camping. He had been active for many years in ham radio. He loved travelling with his family.
Survivors are his wife of 57 years, JoAnne (Broderick) of Daleville, children, Sharon Ann (Nelson) Escalante of Anderson and David (Brenda) Johnston of Elwood, grandchildren; Lori (Wesley) Lewis of Noblesville, Monica Johnston of Elwood, Nelson Escalante of Anderson, Joy Escalante of Florence, KY, and Cheri Grace Johnston of Anderson, 2 great grandchildren, Simon and Audrey Lewis of Noblesville, 1 sister, Loreeta Mahoney of Markleville, 2 nephews Jeffrey and Brian Mahoney and 1 niece, Shannon Kelly.
Funeral services for friends and family will be held on Tuesday at 6:00 PM at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene, 698 North 5th, Middletown with Pastor Dillon Ketchum and Dr. Philip C. Rogers officiating.
Friends may call at the church from 2:00 PM until the service.
