Claudia Lu (McNabb) James claimed her eternal reward on Friday July 15, 2016, with her family by her side at St. Vincent's hospital in Anderson, Indiana. Claudia was born in Martin County, Indiana, on May 29, 1934, to parents Hallie and Lestel (Inman) McNabb. She is survived by her brother, Darrell (Sandy) McNabb of Worthington; brother-in-law Leonard Speas of Russellville; son Randy (Mary Jane) James of Oak Hill, West Virginia; daughter Rona (Cole) Buttry of Middletown. Grandma Claudia also leaves beloved grandchildren Toni James of Middletown, Rick (Jenn) James and great grandchild, Alexander James of Springfield, Ohio; Riley (Laura) Buttry of Greenfield, and Corey Buttry of Seattle, WA; her faithful, furry companion and friend, ""Bear"" and many beloved nieces and nephews. Claudia is preceded in death by her parents, son Rickey Eugene James, husband Raymond James, and sisters Jean James and Shirley Speas.Claudia was a homemaker while her children grew up, but went back to school later in life to become a nurse. Those whom she cared for and worked with were touched by her gentle spirit and loving kindness. She cared deeply for her charges at Miller's Merry Manor, where she spent most of her working career. But her greatest love was for her Lord Jesus Christ, and all who knew her sensed His presence in her. She had been a member of Middletown Church of the Nazarene since 1960 and attended Southdale Church of the Nazarene in the later days of her life. She served faithfully for many years as Church Pianist, Board Steward, Sunday School Teacher and long-time Prayer Warrior. Claudia loved her family and friends and warmly welcomed all into her home and heart. She is not replaceable, but her family would like to extend a very special thanks to the nursing and hospital staff in ICU and on the 6th Floor, along with Hospice Care of St. John's (Vincent's) Hospital in Anderson, who provided such comfort and compassion for her in the final days of her life. May God bless you as you continue to care for patients, just as Mom did, the remainder of your health care careers.Visitation will be held on Monday, July 18 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm and the Funeral will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, with visitation at 10:00 am prior to the service, all at Southdale Church of the Nazarene, 530 W 53rd St., Anderson, IN.
