Chester W. Barnes

Chester W. Barnes, age 86, of Alamogordo, NM, died on November 3, 2013. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Barnes [nee Richman] and brother, Roger Barnes, of Alexandria, IN. Survivors include his sister, Carol Carr, of Columbia, TN, brother Malcolm Barnes, of Alexandria, IN, son Mark Barnes of Baton Rouge, LA, daughter Anne Dollinger of Pembroke Pines, FL, son Dann Barnes of Alamogordo, six grandchildren, and eight grandchildren.Chester was born in Madison County, IN. He graduated from Anderson High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Decorations include the Good Conduct, Asian-Pacific Theater, Army of Occupation, and World War II Victory Medals.He retired from the Ford Motor Company in Louisville, KY, after 31 years of service. During retirement, he resided in Louisville, KY, Davie, FL, Slidell, LA, St. Simons Island, GA, Denham Springs, LA, and Alamogordo, NM. He was a member of the Wesley United Church in Alamogordo, NM.Funeral services will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, in Daleville, IN at 10:00 am with Rev. Gary McManus officiating.Burial will follow in Saunders Cemetery.The Ballard family is honored to celebrate the life of Chester Barnes with family and friends.
