Cherri Lynn Johnsen

November 10, 1961 — January 1, 2021

Cherri Lynn (Dilts) Johnsen of Shirley, Indiana passed into eternity on Friday, January 1 in her home. Cherri was born in Logansport, Indiana on November 10, 1961 to Ernest and Myrna Dilts, both of whom preceded her in death.

Cherri was a 1980 graduate of Lewis Cass High School and also graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Agricultural Economics. She worked most recently as a composition manager for Foy Trent Dog Shows out of Missouri.

Cherri married the love of her life, Len, in 1990. The two of them were active for many years in the Henry County 4-H dog program. Cherri was the devoted owner of several basenjis over the years and was accomplished at showing them in competitions, producing multiple champion dogs. Cherri enjoyed swimming at the YMCA, gardening with her friends, and supporting her grandson Kevin in anything with which he was involved.

In addition to her parents, Cherri was preceded in death by her husband Len; step-daughter Heather Johnsen Saunders;  and her grandparents, Mabel and Orden Shirley. She is survived by her step-son Erik (Dawn) Johnsen of Summitville, Indiana; her grandson Kevin Johnsen of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her aunt Nikki DeHaven of Walton, Indiana; several cousins; and dear friends whom she considered sisters.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown, Indiana. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that contributions be made in Cherri's honor to the American Heart Association, 4-H of Henry County, or your own favorite charity.
