Middletown...Chase Alan Wray, 20, resident of Middletown, passed away Wednesday evening at his home.He was born December 16, 1990 in Muncie, and lived in Middletown his whole life. He went to Shenandoah Schools and graduated from Blue River Valley High School.Growing up, Chase had two very influential grandfathers in his life. Papaw Buddy Wray who saw to it that Chase always had something good to eat and ensured he never missed a ball practice or appointment. Papaw Victor Harry who through sharing his WW 2 experiences was a great influence on Chase becoming a Marine.Chase was highly intelligent and competitive from an early age and did not take losing gracefully, whether it was a card game or rooting for his favorite teams the Atlanta Braves and New England Patriots.Chase excelled in all things he set his mind to. But his passion was becoming a United States Marine. With high test scores in linguistics the Marine Corp chose Chase to become a Marine Corp linguist.He loved spending time and playing video games with his sister Lauren and boyfriend Trent, whom he both adored.Chase's family was so proud of him. He was greatly loved and will be sadley missed by his mom: Lisa Wray (Brian Wiseman), Dad: Gary Wray (Marlena), sister: Lauren Wray (Trent Jarvis), step sister: Krista Weidert (Chris), step brother: Brad McClurg, and nephew: Garrett McClurg, paternal grandmother: Faye Wray, paternal grandfather: Buddy Wray, step grandparents: Richard and Nell Cox, step great grandparents: Wayman and Mary Hoots and Ona Cox, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Also beloved pet, Koon, and special friends John Payne, Chris Shwagmeier and Chris Craig and all of his US Marine buddies from San Diego.He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents: Victor and Peggy Harry and special great aunt: Elsie Riggs.The family would like to give special thanks to SSgt Anson Conner for his influence and guidence in helping Chase become a Marine.Celebration of Life Services will be held on Sunday September 11, 2011 at 2:00 pm at Miller Cemetery in Middletown with full military rites. Dr. Philip C.
