Middletown...Charles Vinson Myers, 92, resident of Middletown, passed away Tuesday at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.He was born in Anderson, September 2, 1920, the son of George and Rhesa Lutton Myers.He was a graduate of Anderson High School.He was veteran of the US Army and worked as a horticulturalist with Ernst Greenhouse in Muncie for many years. He worked at Valley View Golf Course where he was known for the flowers he planted.He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Indianapolis, Middletown Masonic Lodge #271, a strong area athletic booster, longtime Raider and Cossack booster and kept statistics for Coach Von Jameson.He was a member of the Sixth Street Christian Church of Middletown.He was a WW 2 US Army veteran serving with the Alaskan defense command, 70th infantry division in from 1941-42. He then served as a weapons instructor in Ft. Benning, GA until the end of the war,.He lived in Middletown for over 60 years.He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years: Nancy A. Myers, parents, sisters: Peg Usher, Marge Aynes, Pauline Miller, Ruth Cooper, Nellie Baker, and Lucille Caproon, brothers: Art, George, and Ray Myers.Survivors include his children: Linda (Jon) Dietrich, Celia (Greg) Ricker and Steve (Teena) Myers, all of Middletown, grandchildren: Alan (Beth) Fields of Fishers, Mark (Alice) Dietrich of Florida, Lance (Amy) Hale of Middletown, Corey (Amanda) Hale of Fishers, Marci (Tony) New of Terre Haute, Alisha (Alan) New of Middletown, Lindsey (Sam) Lowder of Middletown and Laura Myers of Catonsville, Maryland, great grandchildren: Chandler and Halex Hale, Alex and Jacob Fields, Emily and Carly New, Gage and Charlie New, Cierra and Sophie hale, Blayke, Wyatt, and Gabe Lowder and Nick Lofrumento.
