Middletown...Charles "Chuck" Robert McDanell, 81, resident of Middletown, passed away Monday at his home. He was born in Gary, Indiana, May 13, 1937, the son of Charles Miller and Louise Hershey McDanell.
He was a graduate of Anderson High School and a veteran of the US Marine Corps where he held the rank of Corporal. He had lived in Albany, Georgia for 18 years and in the Middletown area for over 50. He retired from General Motors and ABB Corporation. He was a 50 year Mason and a 20 year member of the Middletown Church of the Nazarene. He coached Babe Ruth Baseball and was a SHS Band Booster and Football Booster. He had attended the United Methodist Church in Albany, GA, and drove the church bus.
He was a member of the Indy GTO Club and the Holiday Ramblers and Optimist Club. He taught the Sunshine class at the Nazarene Church for many years.
He was a Nascar fan and loved Bobby LaBonte.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years; Dianne (Solida) of Middletown, children; Charles (Lisa) McDanell of Elwood, Gina (Mark) Bussa of Anderson and Daniel K. (Medeah) Chew of New Castle, 6 grandchildren; Erin McDanell, Ellen Goe, Zachary McDanell, Wes Chew, Nathan Bussa and Brandon Bussa, 9 great grandchildren, 1 sister: Peggy Murdock of Andeson, and 2 nieces.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister: Charlotte McDanell, 2 brothers, 2 children; George William and Tony L. Chew, 1 grandson: Joshua McDanell.
Services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Dr. Philip C. Rogers and Marty Ballard officiating.
Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call from noon until the time of the services on Saturday.
