Middletown...Charles L. Harter, 73, resident of Middletown, died Thursday morning at St. Johns Medical Center in Anderson, after an extended illness.He was born in Middletown, September 18, 1930, the son of Harry and Imogene Puckett Harter.He had been involved in farmer his entire life and was a US Army Veteran serving in Germany in the early 1950's.He was a member of the Elks, the V.F.W., the American Legion and was active for many years in the N. F. O. of Henry County.Survivors include his wife: Janet (Haynes) of Middletown, his mother: Imogene Harter of Middletown, 2 daughters: Shari (Gene) Vaught of Winter Haven, FL and Vicki (Joe) Bergquist of Englewood, FL, 2 sons: Rick (Tammy) Harter of Middletown and Jerri (Shelly) Harter of Middletown, 8 grandchildren and 1 special great grandchild, 1 brother: Bill Harter of Springport.Memorial services will be held on Saturday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, with Elder Jonathan Montgomery officiating.Friends may call at the funeral home from 11:00 am until the time of the service on Saturday.Memorials may be made to the Middletown Fire Department, Middletown EMS, and the American Red Cross Hurricane Relief Fund.Online Guestbook is available at: www.ballardandsons.com
