Middletown...Charles Allen Carter, 74, resident of Middletown, passed away Saturday in Centerville after a brief illness.He was born in Anderson, October 8, 1941, the son of Rollin and Lucille Hickrod Carter. He was a 1961 graduate of Middletown High School and a US Army Veteran. He played for Coach Von Jameson and the Middletown Cossacks.He retired from General Motors after 44 years.He coached Babe Ruth baseball and girls softball as well as youth football.He was a volunteer fireman and driver with Middletown Fire and EMS. He loved spending time with his family.He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years: Patricia (Chambless) of Middletown, four children: Dawnda Stoker (Ronnie), Tim (Angie) Carter, Becky Carter and Jenny Carter (Mike) and 9 grandchildren: Tiffany and Phillip Stoker, Logan Carter, Jake Mannis, Tyler Bryd, Savannah and Zachery Carter and Maggie and Abigail Carter, two great grandchildren: Kiyel Stoker and Adalynn Bryd and soon to come; Blaine Cox.Also surviving is his uncle: C.A. (Mary Lou) Carter and one aunt: Betty.He was preceded in death by his parents and two grandsons.A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown with Pastor Marty Ballard of the Yorktown Church of the Nazarene officiating.Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery in Middletown.Friends may call on Wednesday from 3 to 9 PM at the funeral home.Online Guestbook at: www.ballardandsons.comThe Ballard family is honored to celebrate the life of Charile with family and friends.
