Charles Delano Blake

August 13, 1948 — September 27, 2020

Charles D Blake age 72 and a lifelong resident of Anderson, passed away surrounded by his family following a prayer on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Ascension St Vincent Hospital in Anderson, Indiana.  He was born August 13, 1948 in Muncie, the son of Emmett R and Francis Blake.  Charlie graduated in 1967 from Frankton High School in Frankton, Indiana.  Charlie married Jeanne M Blake on February 28th, 2004, and they shared 16 years of marriage together full of love and laughter.  Charlie worked 33 years at Guide Lamp and retired at Ft. Wayne Truck and Bus in 2000.  He was a member of U.A.W. #1963 in Anderson.  His family remembers that he was a "family man" who didn't know a stranger and loved to make everyone laugh.  Charlie enjoyed spending time with his family, Nascar racing, crop dusting, road trips and loved putting a smile on everyone's face.



Charlie will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.  Charlie's family legacy includes sons Bryan Blake (wife Jennifer) both of Alexandria, Indiana; Eric Smith (wife Jessica) both of Middleburg, FL; Darin Smith (wife Shawnnan) both of Port Saint Lucie, FL. Daughter's Staci Blake (companion Rodney) both of Ft. Branch, Indiana; Melissa Stewart (husband Chad) Paint Lick, Kentucky.  16 grandchildren, Brandon (finance Amanda), Chase, Madyson (husband Aaron), Ethan, Hayle , Cory (wife Sydney), Cole, Kyle, Kristopher, Owen, Olivia, Savannah, Hailey, Hunter, Triston and Abagail. 6 great-grandchildren, Tucker, Zooey, Mia, Kenadi, Jordan and Jaxyn and Sister Shirley Martin.  Charlie was preceded in death by both his parents Emmett and Frances Blake, sister Jeanne Knoblock, brothers Richard "Dick" Blake and Emerson "Ernie" Blake.  Special in-laws John and Ruth Anderson.


Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown.  Burial will follow at Brookside Cemetery in Lapel.

Friends may call on Thursday from 5-9 PM at the funeral home.  CDC restrictions with social distancing, hand sanitizing and masks will be required.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
