Carolyn Sue Lennen

April 15, 1933 — December 19, 2020

Daleville...Carolyn Sue Lennen, 87, resident of Daleville, left her earthly body peacefully on Saturday, December 19th at home with her daughter by her side.

She was born on April 15, 1933 in Madison County, the daughter of Alfred Willard and Bernice Marie Waldrip Stephens.

She was a 1951 graduate of Anderson High School. Her  love of sports began there and it continued until she became seriously ill two months ago.  She was a loyal fan of the  IU Hoosiers, Indianapolis Colts and the Chicago Cubs. She also had attended nursing school at Ball State for one year and received a certification from Indiana Business College.

She was a long-time member of the Daleville United Methodist Church, participating in various ministries over the years.  Redbird Mission and the Food Pantry being her favorites.  She especially loved the fellowship shared in Bible study groups.  She was a member of the Home Economics Club of Daleville and enjoyed camping with family and friends.

She enjoyed camping and flower gardening. Her flower beds received high praise from many people.  She and her family tended a large vegetable garden for several years.

She managed a household of six children, all Daleville High School graduates.  She worked at St. John's Hospital as a nurses aid and later as a telecommunications operator and then at Ivy Tech as a receptionist.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leroy, and 3 grandchildren; Nathan, Jessica and Lance Lennen and a brother, Paul Stephen in 2017..

Survivors are her children; David Lennen (Ramona) of Washington, IN, Stephen Lennen (Sheila) of Kernersville, NC, Phillip Lennen (companion Amy) of Arcadia, Lori Kelley (companion, Patrick) of Daleville, Brian Lennen of Ft. Wayne, and John Lennen of Freemont, sister in law, Dee Stephens of DeMontte, IN, grandchildren; Josh , Carin , Lucas, Christopher , Nicole Lennen, Amanda Kaye, Gina Buchanan, Patty Gallegos and Sean Kelley, great grand children; Mackenzie and Jocelyn Buchanan, Porter and James Lennen, Eli and Isaac Gallegos, Naomi and Timothy Kaye, a niece, Terisa Wenner (Bob) of Chesterfield and a nephew, Kevin (Jodi) Stephens of Demotte.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 30th at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville.  Burial will follow at Anderson Memorial Park. Services will be live on Ballard and Sons FB page.

Friends may call from noon until the time of the services on Wednesday.

CDC and State Covid-19 mandates only 50 people may be in attendance at any one time in the funeral home and masks, social distancing and hand sanitation be observed.

The family wishes to give special thanks to Kindred Hospice for the care given to Carolyn.

Memorials may be made to any Humane Society, the Wounded Warriors, or the American Heart Association.
