Sulphur Springs...Bula May (Harter) Garrett, 102, lifetime resident of Sulphur Springs, passed away Sunday evening in New Castle.She was born in Henry County, January 20, 1905, the daughter of George and Dora Cory Harter.She had been a homemaker and was a private duty nurse for many years.She was preceded in death by her husband: Pliny ""Doc"" Barnard Garrett in 1964, parents, 1 son: Dan Garrett, sisters: Doris Beaver, Rhea Rifner, and Irene Ritchie, brothers: Walter, Raymond, and Paul Harter.She was a 64 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Womens Literary Club, Sulphur Springs Christian Church, Ladies Aid, and several bridge clubs.Survivors include her daughter: Nancy (John) Kellam of New Castle, sons: Thomas Paul (Frances) Garrett of Greenwood, William J. Garrett of Chesterfield, and James (Bonnie) Garrett of Middletown, 18 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Sulphur Springs Christian Church with Rev. Ryan Hobbs officiating.Burial will follow in Miller cemetery, east of Middletown.Friends may call on Wednesday at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown from 5-9 PM with Eastern Star Services at 8:00PM.Friends may also call one hour before the services at the church.Memorial contributions may be made to the Sulphur Springs Christian Church or the Henry County Youth Center c/o Henry County Foundation or the charity of the donors choice.Online Guestbook at:
