Brenda "Benzi" J. Ward of Greenwood, Indiana, died on November 29 from a brief illness at 79.
Born November 18, New Castle Indiana, to Lena Ellington Mettert Utt and Russell Mettert, Brenda was a life-long Indiana Hoosier.
Brenda enjoyed her family, painting ceramics, coloring pages, jewelry, and socializing with friends. She also enjoyed attending local reenactment events, watching Disney and Science Fiction movies. Watching Hallmark movies was her most recent enjoyment. Perhaps a few of her greatest companions have been her dogs. She was a long-time member of the Eastern Star of Middletown and served as Council President at Greenwood Health and Living, where she was living at the time of her death.
Brenda is survived by her two daughters, Melody(Kelli) Swigert and Marla Jacks; and a step-son, Jay (Becky) Ward. She is also survived by her sister Dianne(Gene) Harding, sister-in-law Jean Mettert(deceased brother Ronnie Mettert), brother Bryant(Jackie) Mettert. She has nine grandchildren and seven great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Brenda is preceded in death by her parents and grandparents, husband James Ward Jr., grandson Paxton Swigert, brother Ronnie Mettert, sister Rhonda Kay Mettert, father of her daughters Max Hays.
Visitation will be Dec 15th from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Ballard and Sons Middletown facility. Services will follow visitation at 2 p.m.with Tammy Mills officiating. The burial will be Dec. 16th at 2 p.m., It will take place at Green Hills Cemetery in New Castle, Ind.
Memorial may be made out to The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
