Brenda Real entered into the presence of her Savior on Sunday, February 11, 2024, following an extended battle with cancer.
Brenda was born and raised and lived her entire life in Central Indiana. She graduated from Shenandoah High School, married the late Dennis McSherley, and then stayed at home caring for their three children. In every aspect of her life, she loved and served. She spent many years as secretary of her church. She coached youth softball and eventually became league president. Later on, she drove an ambulance and became a dispatcher in Middletown. In all these ways, she cared deeply and loved faithfully.
Even after her cancer diagnosis, Brenda continued to serve faithfully in her church and community. She comforted others with the comfort she had been given in Christ, and her faith and trust in God was evident during the long and often difficult journey. In the end, Brenda didn’t “lose” the fight with cancer. She won the greatest prize of all in seeing Jesus face to face.
Brenda was the cherished wife of D. J. Real. She was a precious daughter to Bob and Donna Hubbard and a dear sister to Gary (Jodi) Hubbard and Scott (Sabrina) Hubbard. She was the beloved mother of Travis (Mariel) McSherley; grandchildren, James, Josiah, Tyndale, Lilias and Zechariah; daughter, Amber (Carl) Reed; grandchild, Maycee; daughter, Tara (Stuart) Branstetter; grandchildren, Rylan and Oaklyn; step-daughter, Darrian Real (Brandon); grandchildren, Carson, Jaxon, Kimball, Kinley, Lane and Harley; step-daughter, Taylor (Jason) Ake; grandchild, Rylee. She was the adored Mamaw and Gammaw to all of her grandchildren. She was a loved aunt, a treasured friend, and a valued member of Middletown Church of the Nazarene.
Truly, Brenda could say, “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:7-8)
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 15, 2024 at the Middletown Church of the Nazarene. Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown.
