Shirley.......Beverly Lucille Coon, Shirley, Indiana, died at the age of 65 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beverly passed away peacefully while vacationing on her favorite island of Oahu, Hawaii. She was born July 9, 1949, in Anderson, Indiana to Kenneth and Donna Mae (Farmer) Helsley. Beverly married Larry Coon, Indiana on November 11, 1967. They were married for 35 years. When not traveling, Beverly spent most of her time in the rural Mechanicsburg area. She graduated from Middletown High School in 1967. She began working at the Finance Center later that year. She launched her career as a secretary and along the way raised three children, collected an Associate's Degree in Accounting and worked her way through the ranks to cap her government career as a systems analyst for the Department of Defense. At DFAS, IN, Beverly received numerous awards and official commendations. Following retirement in 2003, Beverly was active in The Elks 484 New Castle and a Kentucky Colonial.Beverly was preceded in death by her son, Brian (1967), her parents Kenneth Helsley (2000) and Donna Mae (Farmer) Helsley (1999), and favorite pet, George Porge. Survivors include daughters, Dawn (husband Greg Stout) of Indianapolis, IN, Angie Chesser, and Amber (Pez Layton) and five grandchildren: Emma and Nikolas Stout of Indianapolis, A.J. Chesser (Anderson), Declan and Sage Layton (Mechanicsburg). Friends may call on Friday, October 3rd, 5p-8p at Ballard & Sons, 118 South 5th Middletown, IN with a celebration of her life held on Saturday at 10:00 am with Marty Ballard officiating.
