Betty Jo Surber

Middletown...Betty Jo Surber, 69, resident of Middletown, died Monday evening at her residence after an extended illness.She was born February 4, 1935 in Blountsville, the daughter of William C. and Jessie J. McMasters.She was a 1953 graduate of Sulphur Springs High School and had been a homemaker most of her life.She was preceded in death by her husband Odis E. Surber in 1973.Survivors include: 2 sons; O.J. Surber of Middletown and William Surber of New Castle, 2 daughters: Sharon Coon of Anderson and Sandra Payne of Middletown, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 1 brother: Larry McMasters of Sulphur Springs and 2 sisters: Donna Applegate and Marsha Sloan of Muncie, several nieces and nephews.Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday at South Mound Cemetery in New Castle.There will be no public visitation.Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, IN.Online Guestbook is available at: www.ballardandsons.com
