Middletown...Betty Ann Spall, 85, resident of Miller's Merry Manor of Middletown, died January 23, 2005 at St. Johns Medical Center unexpectedly.She was born May 2, 1919 in Eastons, Kentucky, the daughter of Charles and Ada Keown. Betty always said that some of the happiest days of her life were spent in Eastons. As a child she would visit from house to house and talk with relatives and neighbors.She was a 1928 graduate of Oakland Kentucky High School. During her years after high school she lived in Anderson and Daleville, IN.While living and working on the family farm and caring for her Aunt, she found time for the elderly by crocheting them blankets and slippers. She also did the same for the children of the First Baptist Church in Middletown where she was a member. During her quiet times she composed prose in her journal and sang hymns.She loved cooking and specialized in desserts. Her spontaneous sense of humor and her unshakable christian faith, helped her cope with her health condition and the loss of her loved ones.She will be missed by her friends and family.Survivors include: daughters: Dr. Sharon Spall of Bowling Green, KY and Linda Walburn Locke of Milton, IN, a grandson: Dr. Geoffery Walburn of Madison, IN, 2 half brothers: Charles Keown of Owensboro, KY and Robert Keown of Fordsville, KY, a half sister: Hazel Smith of Fordsville and a step mother: Lucy Keown of Fordsville, 4 sisters-in-law: Dorothy Martin of Columbus, IN Mary Lee Horning of Anderson, IN and Hazel Krieg of Leesburg, FL, and Gladys Keown of Owensboto, KY.She ws preceded in death by her husband ofsixty-two years: Harry F. Spall in 2002, her mother who died at childbirth: Ada keown, her father: Charles Keown, an Aunt who raised her:Elizabeth ""Mama"" Smith, and brothers: William and Leonard Keown, and half brother: George, ""Hoppy"" Keown.Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 am at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, IN with Rev.
