Middletown...Betty R. "Jean" (Reedy) Parrish, 94, lifetime resident of Middletown, passed away March 31, 2021 at Ascension St. Vincent's Regional Hospital in Anderson
Betty was born December 6, 1926 in Honey Creek, Indiana, the daughter of Clifford and Roberta Ritchie Reedy. .She was a 1945 graduate of Middletown High School and retired from General Motors after 36 years of service. She worked 13 years for the Middletown Post Office and at Miller's Merry Manor for 25 years, retiring from there in April of 2020.
She was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, sisters, Leila Jo and Joyce Ann, brother John, granddaughter Kimberly Graddy, son James Parrish, and grandson Nick Parrish.
She had a passion for baking. During Thanksgiving and Christmas, people would call from all over to order pies. She made over 30 pies each holiday season. She was passionate about her family and her love for them was very special. She loved watching her kids and grandkids play sports especially basketball. She was humble, modest, generous, strong and most of all joyful. She always said, "God couldn't be here physically so she made Grandmas' to help.
Survivors are a daughter Deanna Graddy (Glayne), grandchildren: Dawn Mummert (Max), Sara Fitch (Matt), Korey Graddy (Tonya), Kevin Graddy and Kristi Campbell, 11 great grandchildren, 5 great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and her faithful companion Jelly Bean.
Funeral services will be held on Monday April 5, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Middletown.
Friends may call from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
Indiana State Covid-19 protocols will be in place.
