Betty Lee (Gwinn) Heaton passed away November 17, 2021 at home in Carmichael, California. She was born June 27, 1928 at St. John's hospital in Anderson Indiana to the late Blake Gwinn Sr. and Mollie Duke (Shrout) Gwinn.
Betty is survived by her daughter Jane Heaton; son-in-law John Williams of Carmichael, California; a brother Blake Gwinn Jr, wife Celsa of Anderson, Indiana and nieces and nephews. Her husband Malcolm "Mac" Heaton preceded her in death in 2012.
After graduating from Anderson High School in 1946, she began working at Guide Lamp. Later she also worked for the Anderson Hotel and the Anderson newspaper as a switchboard operator.
Betty and Malcolm married on September 17, 1955 in Bloomington, Indiana. Once married, they lived in Salem township in Delaware county until Mac's death in 2012.
While residing in Anderson, Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church and later attended the Methodist Church both on 14th street. After marrying Mac, she attended the Middletown Church of Christ and later the Westside Church of Christ in Yorktown.
Betty loved flower gardening, listening to music, and visiting with family and friends. She and Mac also enjoyed attending the Daleville Class of 1944 luncheons.
Upon Mac's death in 2012, Betty moved to Sacramento more specifically Carmichael, California to live with her daughter Jane and son-in-law John. Her health started to decline after a 2017 stroke and Alzheimer's diagnosis. She remained living at home with Jane and John until her death in November of this year.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 7, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 8212 South Walnut Street, Daleville with John Williams, Robert Allen and Marty Ballard officiating. Burial will follow in Tomlinson Cemetery in Muncie. Friends may call on Monday December 6, 2021 at the funeral home from 5-7 PM and one hour before the service on Tuesday.
