Benny Joe Brock

January 12, 1932 — September 18, 2020

Middletown...Benny Joe Brock, 88, resident of Middletown, passed away September 18, 2020 at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born in Elwood, Indiana, January 12, 1932, the son of Ora and Edith Waymire Brock.  He farmed for many years and also retired from General Motors after 30 years of service.

He was a graduate of Summitville High School and a US Army Veteran of the Korean conflict.

He was a member of the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church since 1958, the Indiana Farm Bureau since 1949, Mechanicsburg Masonic Lodge where he was master twice, Middletown Masonic Lodge, and a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis.

He was a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, served the Middletown Lions Club for 26 years where he had also been president.  He was a 50 year member of the Royal Arch Masons and was past Vice President of the Henry County Farm Bureau.  He was a member of the American Legion #216 of Middletown.

He was preceded in death by his parents, son John Brock, twin brother Bobby Brock, brother Paul Brock and sister in laws; Ruth and Barbara Brock.

Survivors are his wife of 65 years,  Twila May Basicker Brock, son Steve Brock (Jane) of Anderson and his daughter, Janet Carnes (Tom) of Middletown, grandchildren, Trent (Megan) Carnes and Timothy Carnes, great grandchildren, Benjamin and Jameson Carnes, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 PM at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown.  Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery, Middletown.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4-7 PM with OES and Masonic services beginning at 7:00 PM. Masks, social distancing and handwashing will be required by the CDC mandates and the Governor's recommendations.

Memorials may be made to the Mechanicsburg United Methodist Church.
