Barbara Kay Redman, 80, of Middletown passed away Tuesday July 19, 2022. She was born on April 2, 1942, in Muncie to the late Frank L. and Helen E. (May) Shirey.
Barbara was a 1960 graduate of Middletown High School. She enjoyed gardening, canning and fishing. Barbara was proud of the 5-pound 12-ounce Striped Bass she caught on one of her fishing trips. She loved sending out cards to people for all occasions. Barbara always kept an eye on the Middletown Library and became friends with many of the people working at the library.
She is survived by her children, Larry Benfield of Middletown, Shannon (Jake) Brown of Georgia and Trent Benfield of Anderson; grandchildren, Kodie, Nicholas and Sierra Benfield and Tyler and Austin Brown; brother David Shirey of Middletown.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents.
A graveside service will be held Thursday July 28, 2022, at Noon at Miller Cemetery in Middletown. In lieu of flowers the family ask that contributions be made to the Middletown Library or Middletown Food Pantry.
