Barbara Jean Poston

Barbara Jean Poston, 89, of Middletown passed away surrounded by her family on Thursday, November 23, 2023. She was born May 20th, 1934, in Anderson, Indiana to the late Paul and Emma (Keesling) Darling.

Barbara was an avid collector, she had collected many owls, hummingbirds, and Boyds Bears. She enjoyed spending time watching country westerns on Turner Classic Movies channel and movies on the Hallmark Channel. Barbara loved to read. She enjoyed family and loved her grandchildren. The kids always called her “Grandma Great”. Barbara would travel and very much enjoyed it, she traveled to Kentucky and the family farm many times as they were some of her favorite places.

Barbara is survived by 2 children Paula Johnson (Johnny) and Greg Poston (Pam), grandchildren: Mandy Hulen, Jamie Poston (Daniel), Jessie Daugherty (Shawn), Jeremiah Johnson, Tasha Poston (Brian), Ashley Cole (Shane), Josh Poston, Cody Poston (Hannah) and Lilly Phelps (Masen); Brother Russel Darling (Jill); 16 great grandchildren, 2 great great grandchildren, and 2 on the way; Many special friends like Kay and Becky, and several nieces and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; Husband Kenneth Poston; Son Perry Poston; infant granddaughter Jennifer Poston and Fur Baby Molly.

Services will be held on Wednesday, November 29, 2023, at 2:00 PM at the Ballard and Sons Funeral home Middletown Chapel with Ryan Ballard officiating. Burial will follow at Mechanicsburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home Middletown Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Middletown Emergency Medical Services. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
