New Castle...Avis Evalyn Stevens, 83, resident of New Castle, passed away January 20, 2021 at her home. She was born in Anderson, Indiana, January 24, 1937 the daughter of Elmer Ilo and Geneva Stinson Clark.
She was a homemaker, a girl scout leader and delivered the Anderson Herald newspaper for over 13 years. She was on the Cadiz town board and served as its president. She retired from the Indiana Department of Transportation in Greenfield as a dispatcher.
She and her husband have enjoyed retirement by traveling for many years. She had a double knee replacement which she took water therapy for in which she eventually assisted in water therapy training and classes. She loved doing crafts and making different gifts for family and friends. she was an amazing seamstress having made several wedding gowns and was known also for her cooking skills.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, her brother and sister-in-law, Herbert and Marion Clark, her daughter Tamar Kathleen (Kathy) Stroud, grand son in law, John Bolin and daughter in law Toni Stroud.
Survivors are her husband, David L. Stevens, Jr, children, Leah (David) Stevens, Jr, David, Timothy and Katina Stroud, daughter-in-law, Angie Stroud, Loraine Truitt, Warren and John (Jennifer) Stevens, sister, Sandra (Ray) Halsell, grandchildren: Christina (Monica) Stevens, Barbara (Dale) Navalance, Rebecca Stearley, Rose (Michael) Spell, Eva, Benjamin, and Lucas (Megan) Stroud, Kia Bolin, April and Zachary Atwood, Jeremy (Annie), Tad, Tiffany Stroud, Tony (Katie) Raymond Lee (Tiffney) Thomas, Kolbey Siler, Andrew, Brandon (Tiffany) Truitt, Charlynda (Grant) Becker , great grandchildren, Madison (Holden) Berlin, Natalyia Stevens, Colby, Conner, Colin and Carson Navalance, Dustin and Tyler Johnson, Emily, Megan, Weston, Kaitlyn, and Dakota Spell, Hanna, Elizabeth, Aubrey, Addison, Abigale Stroud, Joey Atwood, Taylor and Ebby Bolin, Bradley and Sierra Stroud, Elexus, Hunter, Selena, Carter, Morgan, Lane, Casen, Thomas, Desmond, Aaralyn, Azrael, Rylynn, Ashlynn, Leia Truitt and Reeselyn and Carson Becker.
