Alan Jay Ritchie, 70, of Middletown IN, went home to be with the lord on Monday, February 19th, 2024. He was born April 18th, 1953, in Anderson, IN to the late Kenneth and Nadean (McDonnell) Ritchie.
Alan is a 1971 Shenandoah graduate. He is married to his beloved wife, Bonnie, for 47 years. Alan and his wife loved to travel, they loved to visit the Smokey Mountains and the Biltmore Mansion. Alan loved the outdoors and especially hunting arrowheads and also was an avid rock and record collector. Alan also had a deep passion for country music, bluegrass, and oldies. In his spare time, he loved to do crossword puzzles and watch game shows and westerns. Alan was known for his spirit of curiosity. One of his greatest passions was for reading books and sharing knowledge. Growing up on a farm, Alan was also an avid lover of animals.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie Ritchie; sons, Jason (Jessica) Ritchie, Clint (Ashley) Ritchie; daughter, Erin (David) Ferguson; brother, Kenneth (Connie) Ritchie; grandchildren, Leana Ferguson, Kendall Brown, Everly Brown; nieces, Amanda Ritchie and Carrie Ritchie, and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 24th, 2024 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, Middletown, IN. Burial will be held at a later date. Visitation will be from 12:00 pm until the time of the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer Association, 50 E 91st St., Ste 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240.
