Middletown: Alan Wayne Coffey, 52 a resident of Middletown of 26 years, died Sunday June 29 at St. John's Medical Center after a suden illness. He was born on October 4, 1950 to James and Mae (Hatfield) Coffey in New Castle. He was a 1968 graduate of Chrysler High School, New Castle. He married Carolyn Morgan on July 19,1969. He was employed at Chrysler Corporation as a Union Facilitator; retiring in 2001. He was a Past Master of the Middletown Masonic Lodge 271; a member of the Middletown volunteer fire department; coached softball, Little League and Babe Ruth baseball for 12 years.He also enjoyed antique car restoration. Survivors include his parents,James and Mae Coffey from New Castle; his wife, Carolyn of Middletown; 2 sons Shane Coffey of Pendleton and Steve Coffey (wife Christie)of Middletown.A daughter, Heather House (husband Jamie) of Middletown. Brothers, Ron Coffey (wife Judy)of Kokomo; Ray Coffey (wife Trish) of Yorktown; Sisters Mrs.Faye (husband Wayne) Nelms of Murphy, North Carolina; Mrs. Gail (husband Mike) Baldwin of Lafayette; and Christa Coffey also of Lafayette. 4 grand children, several neices and nephews.` Services will be at the Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown, Wednesday afternoon at 2pm. with the Rev. Oddos Morris officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8. Masonic services will be conducted at 6pm Tuesday.
