Marilyn S. Stanley, 76 of Frankton IN, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, December 25, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born September 8, 1947 and was the daughter of the late Howard and Leona (Yeyar) Gift. She was born and raised in Middletown, Indiana and was a Middletown Cossack, Class of 1965.
Marilyn spent the majority of her career as a CNA working in various long term care facilities over the years. She had immense compassion for the elderly and it was common for her to bring residents home with her to share personal time with them for birthdays and holidays.
She was an active member of the Florida Station Church of God for over 20 years. She was a Deaf Interpreter for both Sermon and Hymn and enjoyed serving on Mission trips and Bible studies with her fellow congregates. She was also very honored to participate in the Nursing Home Ministry where she would sing and share scripture with the residents.
She was a longtime member of the FOE Alexandria Auxiliary Post 1771 where she served as Madam Chaplain. She was also a member of the Middletown American Legion Auxiliary Post 216, where her Father was a founding member.
Marilyn had a great Faith in God and held closely her belief in the Native American culture and it’s connection to Mother Earth. She was a true animal lover and collector of many things. She found the most Joy from her family and friends, her church, crafting, music and dance.
Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Rose (Jeff) Claywell-Hayes and granddaughter, Jessica (Andrew) Harry as well as several great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by her late husband’s children whom she raised as her own; son, Ernest F. Stanley III and daughter, Tina Stanley as well as several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest F. Stanley Jr.; her daughter, Tina Claywell; her granddaughter, Erika Allen and her brother Robert E. Gift.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown, IN.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Florida Station Church of God located at 1045 West 375 North, Anderson, IN 46011. A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until the time of the service.
