John Albert Griffis

John Albert Griffis, 79, of Middletown passed away on Tuesday, October 10, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent in Anderson. He was born on October 27, 1943, to the late James A. and Lois (Fleming) Griffis.
John was a 1962 graduate of Middletown High School. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served 2 tours in Vietnam. John volunteered for the emergency services for many years in Madison County. He was involved with Middletown Softball and a Co-creator of the “Can DO Kids” team.
He is survived by his children, Joseph Johnson, James (Brandy) Griffis, Ellyn (Jeff) Stinson, Rebekah Young and Katie Griffis; one sister, Jo Lynn (Mike) Dunham; 13 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special companion, Herbie, the dog.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Catherine Griffis.
Services will be held on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 1:00 pm at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service.
