Gerald “Jerry” Lee Murray, 78, of Daleville passed away on Wednesday, November 16, 2022. He was born on March 28, 1944 in Spiceland, IN, a son to the late Lonnie and Virginia (Barnes) Murray.
Jerry was one of the last graduating classes of Spiceland High School. After high school he attended Purdue University where he was involved in the Kappa Delta RHO fraternity and then went on to work on his Master’s Degree at Ball State University. At that time Jerry became employed at Ball State as an academic advisor and he received two Master’s degrees. He met his wife Sandy and they had their first daughter Abby. After graduating from the University of Virginia with a Doctorate degree, along came their second daughter, Andrea. Jerry spent 45 years at Ball State before retiring to care for his wife. He enjoyed classic cars and working on vehicles. He was a long-time member of the Daleville Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Sandy Murray; 3 brothers, Danny Murray, Douglas Murray and L. J. Murray; 2 sisters, Sandra Alexander and Julie Murray.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Abby (Adam) Slye and Andrea (Aaron) Watts; grandchildren, Ruby Slye, Alexander Watts and Aiden Watts; brother, Donnie Murray; several nieces.
Services will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 3:00 PM at the Daleville United Methodist Church with Pastor Glenn Perkins officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until the time of the services. A private burial will be held at a later date at Circle Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society at 5635 W. 96th Street, Suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46278. Envelopes will be available at the church.
