Dale E. Mason

August 20, 1948 — September 18, 2020

Dale E. Mason passed away on September 18, 2020, at Ascension St. Vincent Hospital in Anderson after a difficult battle with cancer.  All who knew him will miss this quiet, gentle, and kind man.

He was born August 20, 1948, in New Castle, Indiana, to the late Don and Marjorie (Wilson) Mason.

Dale graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1966.  He then attended GMI in Flint, Michigan, before switching to a toolmaker apprenticeship program with Delco Remy, which he completed in 1971. He continued his education with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from Ball State University in 1980. He was in the first group selected to work at Magnequench.  After several years, Dale returned to Delco Remy where he took an early retirement in 1996.  He then lived a retiree's dream by working first at Valley View Golf Course in Middletown and later at Lowe's in Carmel.

Dale loved to travel with his wife, visiting all 50 states and several countries.  He also loved golf, reading, movies, and the New York Yankees.  But mostly he loved being involved in family activities.  He coached many of his son's baseball teams and attended many a gymnastic meet hoping his daughter wouldn't fall off the beam. Later he clocked a lot of bleacher time watching his grandchildren in whatever activities they were involved.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 54 years, Teresa (Antrobus) Mason, his daughter Lori (Michael) Medvig of Parker, Colorado, and his son Chris (Toyzanne) of Beavercreek, Ohio.   He adored his six grandchildren: Lauren Medvig of Parker, Colorado; Ashton Medvig  a student at Colorado State University; Halle Mason of Columbus, Ohio; Sydney Mason a  student at The Ohio State University; Zoe Mason, a student of the University of Kentucky, and Ellie Mason a high school junior in Dayton, Ohio.  He is also survived by his sister Connie (Walter

) Potts, his brother Carl (Gena) and his brother Stuart (Sally).  He also leaves many nieces, nephews, and cousins to mourn his passing as well as many good friends and neighbors, including Jim and Teresa Hornaday, Gerry VanAlst, Skip Goodwin, and Dan and Angie Sweet.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 11:00 am at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home, 118 South 5th, Middletown, IN.  Burial will follow in Miller Cemetery, Middletown.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4-8 PM
