Mary Lou McCoy, 89, of Middletown was born on June 19,1934, she passed away June 6, 2024 after an extended illness at Sugar Fork Crossing in Anderson Indiana.
She was the daughter of Joseph H. and Hulda B. (Bowers) Baughn. Mary Lou lived most of her early life in Kennard, IN. She graduated as a Kennard Leopard Cat in 1952 and then attended Ball State Teachers College where received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education in 1956 and later went back to Ball State University and completed her Masters. Mary Lou taught Elementary Education in New Castle and Middletown from 1957 until retirement from the Shenandoah School system in 1993. She is a member of the 6th Street Christian Church, 50 year Middletown Eastern Star, Delta zeta Sorority and Middletown Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed traveling with friends and spending time at their Florida home with a book in her hand. Mary Lou loved her family and was always there for them
Mourning the loss of such an amazing woman of nearly 68 years is her husband, Donald Ray McCoy of Middletown where they made their home together since 1969; Son, David (Debbie) McCoy; Granddaughter, Dana (Ryan) Gipson, Grandson, Phillip Berkowitz and Granddaughter, Devon (Brandon) Ming; Sister, Helen Kay (Richard) Cox of Knightstown; Great Grandchildren, Macee and Jackson Gipson and many nephews and nieces
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Marjorie Sue and daughter, Lou Ann Flynn.
Visitation will be Monday, June 10, 2024 at Ballard and Sons Funeral Home in Middletown from 4:00 PM
to 7:00 PM and 11 AM on June 11, 2024 with the service at 12 PM. Burial will follow at Miller Cemetery.
